Weekly Goals 5/14/12

Filed under: Weekly Goals @ 8:30 pm and

Kenzie’s posters for the Baraka Health Clinic and A2A3 are up, and they look beautiful.  The Baraka Health Clinic poster is completely filled.  The A2A3 poster is slowly filling up.  Please take a look at them when you enter through Tappan’s front doors and be sure to thank Kenzie for all of her hard work.

Zachary has spoken to his advisory (A.Arnold) about raising money for A2A3.  Maya has spoken to her advisory (Morris), and they have a big jar they are trying to fill.  At our meeting Sofia (Bates), Josephine (Borges), Meredith (Sullivan), Victor (Thobe), Diamynn (Nicoll-Turner), and Kenzie (Coppens) all promised to speak with their advisories THIS WEEK.  For all of your Enough! Club members who are playing sports this season, this is a great way for you to stay involved with the Enough! Club.  PLEASE consider speaking with your advisory this week.  If every Tappan student brought in just one dollar, we’d surpass our goal.

We have raised $1282 for A2A3 so far.  We need $718.

I will send the money to Free the Children on Wednesday.  Hurray!

Maya has taken action!  She has spoken with Mr. Weiler about a car wash/bake sale.  We don’t have final approval yet, but we think he’ll say yes.  We’re looking at having it on Sunday, June 3 from 12 – 3 pm.  Maya has offered to bring a hose, Meredith sponges, soap, and a power washer, Kenzie buckets, sponges, and towels, and Josephine buckets.  Victor, Meredith, Sofia, and Diamynn have volunteered to bring baked goods.  Who is available to work?  To bring more baked goods?  Lemonade?  Please let us know.

Next week, we’ll make posters and announcements.

We watched half of a new segment of the DVD Meredith had previously shared with us.  This one is called “In Sickness and in Wealth.”  Fascinating.  Thanks, Meredith!

Weekly Goals 5/7/12

Filed under: Weekly Goals @ 4:26 pm and

We finished watching “I Am,” and we discussed this thought-provoking movie.  The yogurt was a favorite part, but the ideas of connection, mental illness, love, change, and more were quite interesting.  Hopefully, you’ll continue our discussion at home with your family and friends.

We have surpassed our goal for the Baraka Health Clinic, but we are still short for A2A3.  You had some great ideas today.  It’s time to take action.  What are you willing to do to help us reach our goals?  Zachary has already scheduled a time to speak with his advisory.  If everyone did that and every advisory pitched in, we would reach our goal.  Let’s get busy!

Kenzie finished our second poster, and you’ll see it up soon.

I submitted the second part of our application for the Big Dreamers Award, and we should be hearing soon about the outcome.
